Not that the Phillies really needed it, but the Phillies will get an extra "pop" thanks to the teams decision on who will throw out the first pitch before Friday's game 3. It will be former Phillies All-Star Shane Victorino.

While Victorino was a mainstay on the best Phillies teure ever, this was cold and calculated. If you remember (you definitely remember) in 2008 the Phillies entered a critical game 2 against the Brewers in the NLDS. They were up 1-0 on the series but they faced the Brewers big trade deadline acquisition C.C. Sabathia. The Phillies were countering with Brett Myers who spent some time in the minors in 2008. It wasnt exactly a matchup that favored the Phillies.

And then...

Yea, that was cool.

So yea, this isnt some "lets bring back a random player from the 08 roster" decision. The Phillies know what theyre doing by bringing back Victorino for this crucial game 3. The bank was already poised to be wild, but having Victorino back will boost the crowd even more.
