Jeff McLane Joins Anthony to Preview Eagles vs Cowboys
It is Dallas week! And to get the scoop on this weekend’s matchup Anthony Gargano talked to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. What went wrong with their defense on Sunday vs the Cardinals? What kind of test does Jalen Hurts face vs the Cowboys? Anthony talked about that and more with Jeff McLane. Here is some of what he had to say.
On The Performance of the Defense in Arizona
“I thought defensively they got a little passive. I liked what Jonathan Gannon was doing early. You saw a little more single-high safety mixed in here than he typically does. They were kind of daring Kyler Murray to throw it downfield. That hasn’t been the strength of that team… It ends up being that they were able to bait him into throwing downfield and CJ Gardner Johnson got the interception. But then they got ahead 14-0 and were like sat back a little bit… They just weren’t tackling well too. Typically if you are going to play back you rely on those guys to make tackles in space, and they weren’t doing that.”
On The Test Jalen hurts Faces vs The Cowboys’ Defense
“This is the best defense they have faced this year. It is the best defense they have faced since the Tampa Bay game in the playoffs in the playoffs. The best coordinator they have faced since Todd Bowles. So this is a test for Jalen. As is every week, but this is the toughest test he has faced this year. There are opportunities there though. Diggs is really good. Kind of guy who likes to plant it and pick you off. But you can throw at him, and take advantage with a double move. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles try that, and try it early.”
