The Braves and Phillies are to kick off the NLDS on Tuesday at 1 pm. While day games aren’t ideal because people have this thing called “work”, you would still think that tickets would be at a premium down in the ATL. The Braves are the defending World Series Champions and had over 100 wins. For a city that doesn’t have a ton to cheer for (Falcons suck, Hawks are good but not great, and Atlanta FC aren’t the Union) you would think Braves fans would be ready to go for game 1 as they are set to face a division rival.

According to Stubhub the secondary market has PLENTY of tickets available for game 1. And as of the writing of this (possibly pulitzer prize winning?) article there are over 1300 pairs of tickets available for game 1. and it isnt going to cost you much.

I’ve been monitoring this all morning because I find enjoyment in the fact that for the same price as a ticket to go see “SMILE” in theaters you can also go see a post season baseball game. If you’re curious as to how Phillies pricing is going well its 14 X’s more expensive to see a game at Citizens Bank Park.

Now the critics will point out that you could get tickets for the Phillies at $14 all season long. That is partially true! The Marlins on a Thursday didn’t exactly draw. But part of the Phillies lack of interest had to do with the fact that it had been 11 years since they’ve made the post season and they had a few September collapses on their resume. Now that that’s behind the team, you’re seeing “Phillies Phever” is back.

The other thing critics will point out is “ThE BrAvEs HaVe BeEn ThEiR BeFoRe! ItS No BiG DeAl.” Ok. I can tell you from experience as a broke college kid during the 2008-2011 run that you couldn’t get tickets for $14, or even $40. Tickets for all rounds were routinely over $100, and most were closer to $150. Getting more expensive as the team advanced.

Fact of the matter is, this is pathetic. I dont care that its a day game. I dont care that the Phillies didnt crush it at the gate during the regular season. Its the post season, and this is PATHETIC.

oh, and I just checked….. $12 for a pair of tickets.

Go Phils.
