Todays audio Vault highlighted the 1980 run in Philly Sports

It is a special time in Philly sports. The Eagles have started 4-0, and look like perhaps the best team in the NFL. The Phillies are back in the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. Their series in St Louis starts today. The Sixers have one of the best rosters they have had in a long time. Despite coming up short the past few years, the hype is very high for them. The Union are vying for first place and are among the favorites to win it all. And the Flyers, well they are the one team not carrying their weight. It is the first time sports have been this good in the city overall, since the 1980 run.

That was the year the Phillies won it all, the Eagles lost in the Super Bowl, the Sixers lost in the Conference Finals, and the Flyers made it to the Quarterfinals. It's the closest this city has ever been to all 4 teams making it. It is a feeling Philly fans have been chasing ever since. And while we have had individual teams be that good at any time, see 1983 Sixers, 2008 Phillies, and 2017 Eagles, we have never had that many teams good at one time. People who were alive will tell you it felt like there really would be multiple parades.

And that is why Andrew Salciunas, calling in from home, decided to dedicate today's Audio Vault to the 1980 run for all the Philadephia team. He pulled some highlights and moments from each of those team's seasons in 1980. He started with the Flyers, moved on to the Sixers' run to the conference finals, the Eagles making it to their first Super Bowl, and of course finished with the one team who won it, the Phillies.

You can listen to the Audio Vault Andrew dedicated to the 1980 team below.

Andrew Salciunas, “The Choonis,” has done it all at the station - screening calls, working events as a member of the street team, producing 7 days a week, doing updates, and now hosting his own show. Now with a wife and kid, his life experiences are far different than when he first started, but this “regular guy” knows how to relate to anyone. He writes about the Flyers, Phillies, Sixers, and Eagles.
