EJ Smith from the Philadelphia Inquirer joined "The Best Show Ever?" to discuss this team, and if it is okay to buy into the early season hype. This is some of what he had to say.
On his take on how the team has looked in the first 3 weeks
"I think they have answered a lot of the questions we had before the season. It is okay to enjoy these wins. Obviously, there will be more questions as the season progresses. But the defense has looked much improved since week 1. They have sorted things out schematically, and they have been tackling a lot better. It looks more and more the Lions game was a preseason game for that defense. And offensively, Hurts has really answered a lot of the questions. All the talk about the work he put in, I just wanted to see it. A 3-game sample size is big enough you can start to make that determination. That guy has made some significant strides as a passer. They have a lot of ways to beat you, and a lot of talent. So far so good."
On Lack of Second Half Scoring
Against Washington, they took their foot off the gas playcalling-wise. I don't think it was execution. They got into a run-out-the-clock mentality a little early... It is something the good teams will punish you for. While it is a nitpick, it is something to keep in mind. Good teams can put up points fast. if you are playing one of the best teams in the league they can make you pay if you start to go stagnant. it is something to keep in mind. To make sure these guys can put teams away... I wouldn't say it is a major concern. it is more of a playcalling thing if anything else.
