Weekdays 10am-2pm

CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY - FEBRUARY 15: President of basketball operations Daryl Morey looks on during a press conference at the Seventy Sixers Practice Facility on February 15, 2022 in Camden, New Jersey.

With Anthony Gargano at Sixers Medi Day, he got to talk to Daryl Morey. The Sixers President talked about how a full offseason can help this team, adding toughness to the team, the improved depth of the roster, and more…

Here is What Daryl Morey had to say…

On What He Is Most Excited About For This Season

I think just having a full offseason and full training camp. The group that came together last season was very good, just not championship good. And if we can build on that. We know from last year that Joel and James work together well. Even if it happened part way through the year. With the work Doc and his coaching staff to make that work even better, we are excited about that.

On Adding Toughness

When we say toughness, we mean tangible things. We mean, it’s a tie game, with 2 minutes to go, and getting a key rebound like a guy like PJ Tucker has been doing his entire career. The game 7 after Chris Paul went out in 2018, where everyone talks about how we missed a ton of shots. That game was actually close, and the only reason was Pj Tucker was grabbing so many rebounds in that game. he is the one that kept us in it through a long shooting slump.

On Adding Depth to the Roster

When Joel was out games 1 and 2 it got challenging. I think this year we have a big theme this year of 2-way guys. So when Doc Rivers goes to other guys in the rotation, he is not worried about guys who can be ignored on offense, or who is targeted on defense.

On Coach Rivers Having Good Problems With Rotation Decisions

I think we have a really strong perimeter rotation and a really strong interior rotation. Coach Rivers is asking for everyone to be stars in their roles. There is going to be competition for minutes. He has good problems. And he is going to be choosing between several good options hopefully.
