Jeff McLane Joins To Discuss the Eagles Limited Use of Jordan Davis
Earlier today Jeff McLane joined The Anthony Gargano Show to discuss the week 1 performance, specifically on the defensive end. He talked to Anthony about the lack of snaps for Jordan Davis, Gannon’s fear of the big play, and what Fletcher Cox is giving them at this point. This is what Jeff had to say.
On the Lack of Snaps for Jordan Davis
“It’s clear that they know what is going on inside the building. The question is whether they are going to clean it up and change things up. it doesn’t really matter what they say publicly as opposed to what we see on the field. To me, there are probably a few reasons we didn’t see more of Jordan Davis. He performed well when he was out there. They certainly think he has the potential to be a cog for a long time. But he still has to get into better physical shape. And that may be an ordeal for a young guy. its also his first NFL game so maybe you are going lets just give him a tatse of it”
On Gannon’s Fear of Giving Up Big Plays
“He is afraid of explosive plays. And look I understand that. The message in today’s NFL. But I don’t know if Jared Goff is the type of QB where I am worried about that.”
On Fletcher Cox
“You have $14 committed to Fletcher Cox and $13 to Javon Hargrave. I guess based upon salary alone they feel these guys should be the starters… Fletcher as we all know is a descending player. He’s been that for a couple of years. As good as Howie’s off-season was on paper, I don’t think anyone thought he was going to be brought back, especially at that number… He’s still among the top 10 highest-paid DTs. He may not even be one of the top 10 defensive linemen on this team.”
