Eagles Trade For Safety CJ Gardner Johnson
The Eagles are wheeling and dealing before the cut down deadline, having filled a position of need. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport the Eagles are trading with the Saints for safety CJ Gardner-Johnson.

The Eagles will give up a 2023 5th round pick AND a 2024 6th round pick. The Eagles have two of those so they will send their worst of the two to New Orleans.
The 2019 4th round pick is just 24 years old and has 31 career starts in 43 games played. Johnson is in the last year of his deal and was seeking a contract extension with the Saints, but talks broke down. The Eagles releasing starter Anthony Harris makes way more sense now.
