There was good reason to doubt Aaron Nola coming into the season. I certainly did. Nola was bad last year. There is no getting around it. It was also fair to not buy in right away when he was good this season. After how he pitched last year, and even late in 2020, there was reason to doubt him. But if you are still doubting him now, it is time to give it up. Aaron Nola has been dominant. Last night's complete game shutout was just further proof of that.

I know what those doubters might be thinking. He was terrible vs the Mets over the weekend. But I would like to direct you all to his start vs the Mets the week before that. Where he went 8 innings and gave up only 1 run. The only reason he didn't pitch in the 9th is because the Phillies lost before he had a chance. Every pitcher has some bad starts. Nola isn't immune to that. But the majority of times he comes out to the mound, he looks like an ace.

He now has a 2.12 ERA in the past 30 days. He has the 9th best k/9 in the league. In 25 of his starts this year, he has gone at least 7 innings. He has pitched the 2nd most innings among all MLB Pitchers. And he has only failed to get to 6 innings 4 times all season. In an era of the MLB where many pitchers struggle to get past the 6th inning, Nola is a throwback.

So let go of your doubts. Trust in Aaron Nola. Because he has regained his 2018 form. He is a true ace again. Stop fearing some late-season collapse, and enjoy watching one of the best pitchers in the MLB.
