Jordan Davis Looked Like An Absolute Monster At Eagles Open Practice
Last night, following a 13-1 drubbing of the Washington Nationals by the red hot Philadelphia Phillies, the collective eyes of the Philly sports fan base turned to the Eagles’ open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. It was the only open practice the Eagles will hold all year, so naturally the Linc was packed with fans eager to see what the new additions like AJ Brown, James Bradberry, Haason Reddick, Kyzir White, and others would look like in midnight green. The man who seemed to steal the show last night, though, is hardly a man at all, at least age-wise. Jordan Davis, the 22 year old mountain of a man who helped Georgia to a National Championship last year, stole the show in his first appearance in front of the home faithful.
This shouldn’t be totally unexpected news; Davis was the 13th overall pick in this past year’s NFL Draft, and the 2nd highest player drafted off the National Champion Bulldogs. He stands at 6’6” and weighs in at 340 pounds. He is, by all accounts, a guy that should physically dominate at the NFL level, but seeing it in person is still a jarring experience, especially for us mere mortals. There have been reports of Jordan Davis doing things in training camp that seem superhuman, especially for his size, but last night he went viral for some good old fashioned power. WOW. That is a powerful man. A lot of people initially thought that was against perennial All-Pro Jason Kelce, but it was actually against Cam Jurgens, the Eagles’ 2nd round selection out of Nebraska. While he’s not Kelce, Jurgens is a talented young player, and is listed at 6’3”, 291 lbs. That’s not a small man, but Davis drove him off of his feet and about 8 yards backwards. It was a feat of strength that should make every single Eagles fan excited for what their new defensive lineman could bring this year. It’s a small sample, but Jordan Davis is already looking like the physical monster he was billed as.
