The Philadelphia Phillies are acquiring starter Noah Syndergaard from the Los Angeles Angels for former 1st overall pick Mickey Moniak and Jadiel Sanchez. This according to Jayson Stark of the Athletic.

Syndergaard signed a 1 year deal with the Angels in the offseason and regained his form. In 15 starts this season he has a 3.83 ERA with 64 K’s in 80 innings pitched. He will likely slot into the Phillies rotation as a #3 behind Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola.

Moniak was the former #1 overall pick in 2016 but never found his footing with the Phillies. The 24 year old will get a fresh start with the Angels. Sanchez wasnt even in the Phillies top 30 prospect list.

This marks the third trade of the day for the Phillies, who have already acquired Brandon Marsh from the Angels, and David Robertson from the Cubs.
