The Philadelphia Flyers welcomed the future Thursday night as they selected left wing Cutter Gauthier from the USNDP with the 5th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry draft. Gauthier is the 2nd USNDP player drafted by the Flyers in the first round since 2018 (Cam York.)
Gauthier is a big bodied winger at 6'2, 189 pounds. Last season he had 28 points (19 goals) in 22 games for the National Development Team. Its worth mentioning that former Flyers goalie, turned broadcaster Brian Boucher thinks that the Flyers will make Gauthier a center.
Gauthier is headed to Boston College next season.
