Philadelphia To Host The 2026 World Cup
Philadelphia soccer fans will have their time on the world stage as the city announced Thursday that they will be one of 10 host cities for the 2026 World Cup of soccer. The games will be held at Lincoln Financial Field and over a 2 week stretch Philly could host up to 6 matches. This will be HUGE for Philadelphia tourism as a host city can expect close to half a million people to flood into town.
Soccer has always been popular but in recent years its taken an uptick thanks to the success of the Philadelphia Union. With the Union showcasing a lot of homegrown talent, and the team developing into one of the best teams in MLS. If Philadelphia is lucky enough to host Team USA….LOOK OUT because that is going to be an amazing atmosphere.
2026 is setting up to be an incredible year in Philadelphia. The country will be celebrating its Semiquincentennial (250 year anniversary) and Philadelphia is the birthplace of the country. The city will also be hosting the 2026 MLB All-Star game and there are rumors that city officials are vying to get the NBA All-Star game as well. Everything is coming up PHILLY!
