PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - NOVEMBER 07: Defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon of the Philadelphia Eagles walks off the field after a loss against the Los Angeles Chargers at Lincoln Financial Field on November 07, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade Show for his weekly hit. Normally its Wednesdays at 8:10 but Schefty had a scheduling conflict so he audibled at the line and joined the guys on Tuesday to discuss all things NFL.

Where in the dead period of the NFL season. A time where fans and scribes have way too much time to sit and think. So is the Buzz around the league with the Eagles?….at all?

“I honestly think the buzz this year is on the AFC, the AFC west, and all the moves that were made in that division, and for the first time in a while the NFC is kind of under the radar, and the Eagles are affected by that… In a way, though, you think that should be a benefit to the Eagles buzz because the conference looks like it will be easier to win than it was a year ago.”

The conversation then segwayed from the buzz of the team, to the buzz of one of their coordinators. Defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was a hot commodity before he even stepped on the sideline with the Eagles, and even got some head coaching interviews this past offseason. So what is the word around the league with Gannon?

“Inevitably there are some guys early in their careers who seem to be anointed as head coaches in waiting, and he seems to be one of those guys… I think people like his intelligence, his energy, he’s been out there for a while and people have known about him… I think people just assume that because he was a finalist for a head coaching job last year, he’s going to get one this year.”
