Jimmy Rollins points to the sky

Philadelphia Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins points skyward after hitting a triple in the sixth inning of a baseball game with the Washington Nationals, Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, in Philadelphia. The Phillies…

Former Phillies all-time great Jimmy Rollins will be leaving the booth and heading back into the dugout!.....for at least one game. Rollins will manage the American League team in the MLB Futures Game. Rollins will manage against former Angels long time manager Mike Scioscia.

Its weird that Rollins was picked to manage the American League because he played all of 41 games with the White Sox in 2016. His last stop in the majors before retiring. Its also weird that Scioscia is managing the National League since his entire managerial career was spent in the American League.

Rollins was never in the Futures Game, so this is his first trip to the event that features some of the games top prospects. This is also Rollins first foray into managing. Maybe he decides to leave the booth for good? I hope not because he is amazing in that role.

The game will be held July 17th.
