The Sixers downed the lowly Pistons 118-106 in the regular season finale. The Sixers sat both James Harden and Joel Embiid and the Embiid absence allowed some playing time for  player that the fan base has been clamoring for in Paul Reed. Reed, a former 2nd round pick from Depaul who is the reigning G-League Rookie of the Year and MVP, performed well coming off the bench for the Sixers both Saturday AND Sunday. In 11 minutes on Saturday he put in 8 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Sunday he got 21 minutes and scored 25 points grabbing 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

So….why is DeAndre Jordan still the primary backup? Well i’ll allow you to hear from Glenn Rivers who slowed it down because we’re too dumb to understand why Jordan is earning playing time over Reed

For everyone out there who may be wondering, DeAndre Jordan is 6’11 while Paul Reed is a minuscule 6’9…. But clearly Glenn Rivers subscribes to the Chip Kelly line of thinking “big people beat up little people.”

DeAndre Jordan flourished under Rivers out in Los Angeles. But Jordan is cooked. Its clear to anyone that CASUALLY watches basketball that Jordan is a shell of the player he once was. If the Sixers DIDNT have Reed then all you can do is throw your hands up and say “we have no other options” but we do have another option. Rivers just refuses to admit it.

I also understand that coaches have soft spots for certain players, for whatever reason. Rivers may feel like he owes it to Jordan since Jordan signed with the Sixers during the veteran buyout. Maybe he is more comfortable with Jordan because hes just more familiar with him than Reed. Maybe hes concerned with Reed’s foul trouble. Or Maybe,  and this is the worst case for Sixers fans, Glenn Rivers truly believes that DeAndre Jordan gives the Sixers the best chance to win.

So Glenn, let me clarify this one more time for everyone who struggles. DeAndre Jordan is a detriment. Opposing teams look forward to him checking in. A faint smell of burnt toast wafts through the Wells Fargo Center as opposing guards blow by him. Hes cooked. We dealt with this before when the fan base knew Richaun Holmes was better than Amir Johnson. Your predecessor couldn’t understand that. Dont subject us to anymore DeAndre Jordan time when Paul Reed is an option. I wrote that slow so hopefully you can understand it
