The Eagles fell to the 49ers in a real barn burner of a game (17-11). Zach Berman (The Athletic) joined the John Kincade Show, as he does after EVERY Eagles game, to discuss some of this biggest takeaways from the loss.

Jalen Hurts finished the game with 190 yards through the air, and 82 yards on the ground with 1 rushing touchdown. He wasn’t able to follow up on his great week 1 game. Because Hurts plays QB you might think that he would take the blame for the Eagles loss, but Berman doesn’t see it like that;

“I DID think Jalen Hurts held onto the ball TOO long, but overall I dont think Hurts was the problem overall.”

The Eagles seemed to keep taking shots down field, and Berman told John and the gang that he thinks it was by design;

“I think they saw the 49ers were missing both starting corners and they wanted to stretch the defense. And there were times that both (wide receivers) were open.”

The biggest loss came when Brandon Graham went down with an achilles injury. Graham is reportedly out for the season and Zach was asked what the rotation will be;

“I think it’ll be Sweat and Barnett as your top 2 and then Kerrigan and Milton getting mixed in,” but then Berman went in on Barnett. “I know you didn’t ask about it but Derek Barnett really needs to cut down on these mindless penalty.”
