The Eagles are officially locking up their left tackle for the next four years. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are signing Jordan Mailata to a 4 year extension for $64 million that could reach $80 million. $40 million guaranteed.

Mailata’s story is well known. Drafted in the 7th round after learning the game of football in just under a year. The former rugby player was an athletic freak that was identified by Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland at a pro day featuring international players. The Eagles took a flyer on him and it paid off.

it makes the decision to draft Andre Dillard in the first round all that more confusing and screams of the Eagles unwillingness to be patient and let Mailata develop.
