The Philadelphia 76ers have extended the contract of Joel Embiid according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The extension is for four years and will pay Embiid $196 million. The Super-Max deal will take Embiid through the 2026-2027 season and will guarantee him $261 million. Unlike his rookie extension, this deal is fully guaranteed.

Embiid has blossomed into one of the best players in the league, and some could argue he should've been MVP last season. He dominated on both ends of the court. This is also reassuring in a league where super stars are constantly looking to go elsewhere with a "grass is greener" mentality. Embiid has never shown to be one of those players, he seems to be more in line with Giannis Antetokounmpo who wanted to stay with the team that drafted him and "win the right way." But its still good to see!

the 2021 season is just a few months away!
