(L-R) Matthew Richards and Tom Dean of Team Great Britain react during the Men's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay Final on day five of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Tokyo Aquatics Centre on July 28, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.

BBC sportscaster Clare Balding’s made us all do a double-take when she said something that caught all of our attention when interviewing Olympic British swimmers.

Per Huffpost, Balding was interviewing Tom Dean and Matthew Richards of Team Britain yesterday (July 28) about their victory in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay (with teammates James Guy and Duncan Scott) when she said, “Matt, you’re 18 years old, it’s your first Olympics, and you swam — honestly, your third leg was just phenomenal.”

Balding was referring to Richards swimming third in the four-leg relay for the British team.

But the swimmers cheekily smirked as the comment, trying to hold back laughter. Watch a clip from the interview below:

People on Twitter who saw this, had no choice but to make fun of Balding’s choice of words:

Richards father even took to Twitter to tell the sportscaster thanks for the laughs:
