When you look at the Eagles cornerback position its…..unproven (to be kind.) Besides Darius Slay the position leaves a lot to be desired. Slay, who is a former All-Pro, is the best of the group. He is a lock on the outside. The incumbent for the other outside corner spot is Avonte Maddox. Maddox struggled in 2020 with the move from inside to outside corner. In fairness to Maddox, everyone struggled last season. But a quick look at the position and the question remains; “who is going to start opposite Darius Slay?”

Well Slay has weighed in and he wants to Eagles to get someone from the outside.

Slay tweeted at former Steelers cornerback Steven Nelson. Hes a former 3rd round pick by the Chiefs who has started 68 of his 82 NFL games, including the last 46 games of his career. In 2019 Nelson signed a 3 year, $25.5 million dollar deal to head to Pittsburgh. He was released after the 2020 season.

You probably remember Nelson because he picked off Carson Wentz twice when the Eagles played the Steelers this past season. He is a vet who brings experience to the position. The question now is weather or not he is pricing himself out of a job. You have to wonder why he is still available in July.

Either way, Darius Slay seems to want Nelson on the outside over the likes of Maddox, Craig James, Zech McPhearson, and others currently employed by the team.
