The bad news came before the game when Joel Embiid’s MRI revealed a small meniscus tear. The MVP candidate will rehab, and is listed as day to day. It seemed like the Sixers had trouble getting over Embiid’s abscene in the first half, finally pulling ahead right before the end of the half. The Sixers woke up in the second half.

The Sixers pulled ahead and advance to round 2 after a 129-112 victory. Paced by Seth Curry who had a career high 30, the Sixers outscored the Wizards 64-49. Curry wasnt the only Sixer to step up. In the first half the team was energized by what rookie Tyrese Maxey brought off the bench. He ended with 13 points. Dwight Howard was huge 12 points, 8 boards, and 3 blocks. And Tobias Harris was “steady Eddy” with his 28-9-6 points. Oh yea, and Ben Simmons had a tripple double (19-10-11.)

With the absence of Joel Embiid Doc Rivers implemented a small lineup, putting Ben Simmons at the 1, and starting Matisse Thybulle. It will be interesting to see what Doc Rivers decides to do against the Hawks who they will face in the second round after the Hawks dismantled the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. But hey, the Knicks will ALWAYS have game 2! Cant take it away from them.

Hawks and Sixers should kick off either Sunday or Monday. The East runs through Philly
