ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade show (as he always does at 8:10am on Wednesdays) and discussed the NFL draft, which is just a week away! Many prospects are seeing their stock rising.
“Mac Jones will come off the board sooner than people ever thought would have. Which is no secret now. Kyle Pitts is regarded as the best non-quarter back in this draft. I’ve had people tell me hes the best player in the draft. Better than Trevor Lawrence. So I think there’s a real chance he goes #4 to Atlanta. And I think some of these corner backs are better than people realize.”
He mentioned Patrick Surtain, Jaycee Horn, and Asante Samuel Jr. as some examples of corner’s that he thinks people are sleeping on. Adam Also mentioned how teams are going into this draft reluctant to reach on a player because of COVID and lack of a combine. Some teams don’t have the medical evaluations that they normally would.
Adam was also asked about what the Eagles plan to do with tight end Zach Ertz. Ertz was supposed to be traded by now, as he wants a new contract and the Eagles aren’t likely to give him one.
“My guess is they’ll be open to listening but wont just give him away. Hes too good and too valuable to unload. The draft isnt deep at tight end which helps the Eagles”
And finally, after the Eagles traded back, its got many fans wondering if the Eagles could do it again. OR could they trade up in the draft?
“A week out I think they’ll stay where they are,” Schefter said regarding the Eagles at pick 12. “They’ve made calls to move up and they’ve made calls to move back. Because that’s their job. To explore all scenarios.”
