As the NHL trade deadline gets closer and closer (3pn) the Flyers have all but played themselves out of being “buyers.” This coming after a horrific 4-3 loss in regulation to the worst team in the league, the Buffalo Sabres.
The team’s biggest trade piece is center Scott Laughton who, according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman “loves Philadelphia.” But how much? Laughton is a UFA at the end of this season and could command a decent amount on both the trade market and the open market if he were to reach it. Fact is, every team in the league is looking for a player like Scott Laughton. A bottom 6 center who can kill penalties and add in some offense.
Word from NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun came out at 12:30 that this COULD go down to the wire. The Flyers remain in talks with Laughton’s agent, but are also fielding calls in case the team and Laughton can’t agree on a long term deal.
The latest update is that teams that are interested in Scott Laughton are expecting the former Oshawa General to resign in Philly. This according to NHL Insider Darren Dreger

The Flyers have resigned Scott Laughton to a 5 year deal. At an AAV of $3 million. This according to Pierre LeBrun
