Daryl Morey Talks Sixers Trade Deadline, Gives Embiid Update
Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey joined the John Kincade show the day after the Sixers swung a deal to acquire guard George Hill. The Sixers, who currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference, added the veteran guard to an already stacked roster that includes MVP favorite Joel Embiid.
A big takeaway from the in the interview was when he was asked about Hill. Morey got excited, telling the Kincade crew that he had been trying to acquire Hill for a while now, dating back to his previous team (the Rockets.)
“Acquiring George Hill was the obvious right move. I think we needed a player like (Hill) for the playoffs”
Its clear that the Sixers identity is defense. Depending on the metric you look at, the Sixers are considered a top 3, if not THE top defense in the league. Morey didnt shy away from doubling down that defense will win this team a championship.
Morey also gave an update on MVP candidate Joel Embiid. Its understandable to Sixers fans to worry about the health of Embiid, as its been a problem in his career. But Morey gave an optomisitic outlook on the big man.
“Id say its closer to a day to a week than days to a week”
