The Philadelphia 76ers will be heavily represented at the March 7th NBA All-Star game in Atlanta. MVP candidate Joel Embiid will start for the Eastern Conference, but he will be joined by head coach Doc Rivers. Reserves have yet to officially be announced but according to The Athletic’s Sham Charnia Ben Simmons will be heading to his third All-Star Game while Tobias Harris was left out.
Sources: 2021 NBA All-Star reserves:— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 23, 2021
West: Chris Paul, Paul George, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis
East: James Harden, Julius Randle, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Zach LaVine, Ben Simmons, Nikola Vucevic
Simmons is having arguably his worst year since his rookie season, having trouble adapting to Doc Rivers system (?) He has played much better of late, but is averaging 15.7 PPG, 8.3 Rebounds, and 7.9 assists. He is also one of the best defenders in the NBA
Tobias Harris has been the player the Sixers thought they were getting when they swung a trade with the Clippers back in 2019. Reunited with Rivers, Harris is putting up his best season as a pro. Hes averaging 20.6 PPG, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. His snub is ridiculous and I’m taking it as a personal attack.
