Adam Schefter Breaks Down How The Wentz Deal Came Together
Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade show to discuss the Carson Wentz trade to Indy. Many had thought that Carson wouldn’t be traded because Carson Wentz hadnt made a public request for a trade. But Schefter made it very clear that the only ending to this story was a trade.
“This was DeShaun Watson without the headlines. He didnt want to be (in Philly). He was done. Doug Pederson was a big part of it but a lot other people were apart of it.”
In terms of when the Eagles started shopping Wentz, Schefter gave an interesting timeline.
“The talks heated up the day after Mathew Stafford was traded to Detroit.” Schefter even said he got a call from a source “either Monday or Tuesday” after the Stafford trade that a Wentz trade was getting done. It obviously did not. But in terms of the offer, Schefter told John, Bob, and Jamie that the Colts came up slightly from their initial offer, but their FINAL offer was sitting on the table for about a week as Howie Roseman tried, unsuccessfully, to find another trade partner to drum up business
“I dont think anyone but Indianapolis made an offer”
