Adam Schefter: “Wentz Wants To Leave The Franchise”
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade show, as he does every Wednesday at 8:10, and dropped a bomb on the show. The topic of Carson Wentz still not speaking publicly came up during the interview and Adam cut in.
“That tells you something”
John agreed with Adam
“It tells me he is somehow disconnected from the franchise”
And thats when Adam dropped the bomb
“And wants to leave the franchise. Thats why the trade is still in play. And just because he would like to be moved, doesnt mean he will be.”

This has been long speculated that Carson Wentz wants out of the city hes called home since being drafted 2nd overall in 2016. But Carson hasnt spoken publicly and a formal trade request hasnt been made, or at least hasnt been made public. Wentz struggled big time in 2020, and his character and leadership was brought into question by former teammates

“some of the other issues I felt when I was in the locker room was just that there was too much leeway and it didn’t make him a better player. I don’t think they did any favors by trying to kind of protect his ego”

We tend to think if a player wants out, it must be out there. Like the DeShaun Watson saga in Houston. But it is just as possible, and maybe more likely, that Wentz is doing everything behind closed doors and it just hasnt gotten out. And if thats the case, I appreciate it as an Eagles fan. As soon as the demand for a trade is made public, his value goes down. Teams suddenly know that the Eagles are in a compromising position with a player not wanting to play for the franchise. Even though it seems like its the elephant in the room if only the Eagles know that Wentz wants out they can tell other teams that hes perfectly content with staying. Its how the game works.
