Playstation 5s Are Being Stolen In ‘Fast And Furious’-Like Moving Heists
As if it isn’t tough enough to get your hands on a Playstation 5, some gangs have been stealing them from moving trucks in a maneuver that seems to come from the Fast And Furious films… or a video game.
Yahoo Finance reports that gangs in the U.K. have been using a technique called “the rollover,” where multiple cars work together to block a truck from switching lanes, forcing the truck driver to maintain a steady speed. Then a burglar will stand on top of the back car, crack open the trailer and throw out the cargo for collection. This has happened at least 27 times this year, according to England’s The Times for robberies of a number of items, not just Playstations.
While there haven’t been reported cases of “rollovers” in the U.S., there have been robberies of UPS and FedEx trucks, and the FBI has set a $10,000 reward for those who can help track down the perpetrators.
