Governor Murphy announced Monday that New Jersey will be moving into “Phase 2” of the reopening plan starting June 15.
Phase 2 will open up restricted outdoor dining, in store retail, and child care centers. Hair salons and barbershops will open on June 22. Currently restaurants have been offering takeout, delivery, and curbside to go options and some non essential retail has been allowing customers to pick up merchandise curbside.
Gov. Murphy mentioned gyms and health clubs will likely reopen soon thereafter as they continue to work with health officials on safety protocol.
In Stage 3, New Jersey will allow for expanded dining, critical in-office work, limited entertainment, bars with limited capacity, expanded personal care services, bars with limited capacity, and expanded fitness/gyms with capacity.
New Jersey has been America’s second most-impacted state in the pandemic next to New York. It has reported nearly 11,700 virus deaths to date.
