Basketball players have been making the rounds on podcasts to fill the unexpected downtime in their schedules, and Sixers forward Mike Scott has been among the most active of all.

Scott hopped on the ‘Let’s Talk Battle Rap’ podcast this week for a lengthy discussion about battle rap and his basketball career, all of which is worth a listen. Scott is such an entertaining dude.

One of the absolute highlights? While discussing the kinds of battle rap crowds, Scott and the LTBR hosts started talking about Philly sports fans and their… unfavorable reputation. In particular, the boos were brought up.

Scott didn’t have time for any Philly slander:

SCOTT: That’s how it is in Philly. It’s gritty, it ain’t soft.

LTBR: How do you feel when you guys get booed?

SCOTT: I’m a logical person. I try to understand both sides. Our side, of course we’re not trying to come out here and be a**. But sometimes we have bad games.

And from their side, ‘Don’t be a**. We paid our money, we’re hard-working people in the city of Philadelphia. Gritty, blue-collar people who paid our hard-earned money.’ Know what I’m saying? ‘We don’t want y’all to come out here on some bulls**t, and we’re going to let y’all hear it.’ I respect that, too.

They don’t hate us. They just – they’re passionate, very passionate.

This falls in line with everything Scott has said in the past, like when he assessed his time with the Clippers:

And when he explained his mindset before each game:

It all checks out.

It’s hard to believe Scott has only been a Sixer for 15 months, because he immediately understood the city and its fans. He became a cult hero – hello, Mike Scott Hive – and while he had a bit of a down year this season, he’s still a beloved figure to most Sixers fans for his team-first attitude, and his clutch shots in the 2019 playoffs.

Scott also relayed an important bit of info about last year’s playoff exit: He’s a “Kawhi traveled” truther.

Scott and the LTBR hosts started reliving the Kawhi Leonard shot, and Scott offered up his conspiracy theory about the fateful jumper:

SCOTT: When he hit that shot, it hit the rim like four times, Jo closed out, great defense. He faded to the corner, he shot it short, so he got that shooter’s roll. I don’t know. He must be living right.

We came back, we got all the way back, Jimmy steals the ball, lays the ball up, tie game.

I still think Kawhi traveled, but whatever. Call me a sore loser.

Scott went on to admit that he came around to respecting Leonard and the Raptors because of the way Toronto finished its season with a title, but I love that he still holds on to the travel thing. Maybe that “we were robbed” fire will help drive the Sixers if the NBA holds a 2020 postseason.
