Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney made an announcement Monday that beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, March 16 to at least March 27 the closure of non-essential businesses in Philadelphia will take effect.

Only essential commercial establishments should remain open and include:

  • Supermarkets and grocery stores
  • Big box stores
  • Pharmacies
  • Discount stores, mini-markets, and non-specialized food stores
  • Daycare centers
  • Hardware stores
  • Gas stations
  • Banks
  • Post Offices
  • Laundromats and dry cleaners
  • Veterinary clinics for domestic pets and pet stores

Food establishments can stay open for carry out or delivery only.
