The NHL’s trade deadline came and passed with the Philadelphia Flyers making two key acquisitions.
With such a young roster the Flyers were looking for veteran’s that were cost effective, but could also help lead the Flyers to playoff hockey.
Nate Thompson was acquired for a 2021 Fifth Round draft pick from the Montreal Canadians. Thompson is a defensive player, but has 4 goals and 14 points in 63 games this season.
After acquiring Thompson, Philly turned around and traded a 2020 Fourth Round draft pick and Phantoms Forward Kyle Criscuolo for Forward Derek Grant. Grant is another piece added to the Flyers that adds depth and veteran leadership to this young team. Grant scored 14 goals and 19 points so far this season.
The Flyers have a chance to win the Metropolitan Division, so adding key veterans who can lead and also not hurt the cap room situation for the offseason is a big play for the Flyers.
