Confirmed: A ‘Friends’ Reunion Is Happening
It’s official! After years of speculation, the gang is finally coming back for a reunion. According to Entertainment Weekly, all six original cast members will reunite for an exclusive untitled unscripted special on the new HBO Max streaming platform along with all of the 236 original episodes.
In a statement Kevin Reilly, chief content officer of HBO Max, reveals, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library.” He also explains, “I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real-time, and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”
All six original cast members, who also announced the news on their social media pages, will not only star in the special, but they will be executive producers. HBO Max will launch in May 2020.
