Nashville Predators Head Coach Peter Laviolette was fired on Monday, January 6 along with associate coach Kevin McCarthy.

Laviolette led Nashville to the playoffs in each of his full five seasons, and coached them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017 where they lost in six games to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Predators however have lost four out of their last five games, including the Winter Classic game in which they blew an early two-goal lead.

Laviolette is perhaps best known for his time as the Flyers bench boss from 2009-2013. He coached the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010 where the Chicago Blackhawks eliminated them in six games.

Laviolette also coached for the New York Islanders and won a Stanley Cup for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.
