Donovan McNabb joined the Farzetta & Tra Morning show on Monday at 9:30am which he does every single week throughout the season & since the Eagles had played on Thursday night that week, we got into the performance of Dak Prescott & the Cowboys on Sunday Night football vs. the Saints. The game wasn’t statistically one of Dak’s best games as the Cowboys came up short, 12-10. It didn’t make Donovan waiver on the fact he thinks Dak should get paid.
This naturally led to a conversation about Goff vs. Wentz vs. Prescott because of the nature of QB contracts in the league. Wentz was briefly the highest paid QB in the league until Goff superseded him & now Dak’s potential contract remains looming. He believes that Dak should get what he’s seeking, a 40 million dollar average per year salary. Donovan skirted around answering which QB he’d choose if starting a team, Wentz or Dak but he certainly sang the praises of Dak Prescott of being under valued around the NFL. “If Carson Wentz got paid & Jared Goff got paid & when you look at Dak’s numbers & winning football games, Dak does that. People want to look at the negative slight on him but the guys won football games & deserves to be the highest paid QB at this point.”
Obviously this comes off as a Wentz slight to some. In actuality it appears Donovan was trying to hype up Dak Prescott because so many people like to negatively put-down Dak when it comes to comparing him to the other young great QB’s around the NFL. His point was don’t hold Ezekiel Elliot & the offensive line & the defense against Dak as reasons why the Cowboys continue to win, when those excuses are never made for the other QB’s. The QB debates are ones that will never die in the peanut galleries of NFL fans & ultimately doesn’t mean a ton & W’s & L’s will ultimately tell the tale. The reality is that that Dak Prescott will likely ultimately receive a larger salary than Carson Wentz which does not make him the better QB.
The other comment Donovan made that will make him not want to check his Twitter mentions is this one…
The old “they gave away the game” line that catches peoples attention. The Packers throwing the ball 4 consecutive times from inside the 5 yard line to decide the game was the first time in 40+ years that a team did just that. Pretty remarkable decision by the Packers to not try the run from the 1 yard line at least once there with the game on the line. Maybe it’s a credit to the Eagles run defense, maybe they were trying to pick on the Eagles injury depleted secondary, whatever it was, it gets looked at under a microscope after a loss like that. Hell, we’re still talking about the Falcons game as one “we gave away” if Agholor simply catches it. It’s an attention grabbing sentence but if we were doing sports radio in Green Bay last week, we’re probably saying the same thing, “LaFleur gave that one away!! RUN THE BALLLLLLLLL!!!”. Some do view it as Donovan discrediting the Eagles role in handing the Packers their first L, but maybe he’s right from the Packers perspective on things, that’s one they’d like to have back.
Donovan will join Farzetta & Tra next Monday at 9:30am following the Jets game!
