Charges against Phillie Odubel Herrera have been dropped.

The suspended outfielder was charged on simple assault charges after an incident at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City on May 27, 2019.   Herrera was charged and released on a summons, then suspended from Major League Baseball after his arrest.  Herrera had been placed on administrative leave, following the leagues Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

The case was dismissed on the condition that Herrera completes counseling with in 60 days and must provide a certificate that the counseling was completed.

It was the victim’s choice to drop the charges on this condition.

A decision by Major League Baseball on Herrera’s status will be made by the end of this week.
